Wastewater Laboratory

Where does wastewater in our homes actually come from?

Using a specially designed “wastewater construction kit,” students connect sinks, toilets, and bathtubs to the sewer system — ideally without causing a flood. But what happens if cat litter or wet wipes are flushed down the drain? Can all types of paper and litter really be disposed of via the sewer system?

Through simple, hands-on experiments, students explore these questions in an engaging and age-appropriate way. By the end of the workshop, they will understand what belongs in the sewer system — and what definitely does not.
